Lean Transformation and Six Sigma (DMAIC)
Juran Healthcare's Lean Transformation and Six Sigma offering is part of our Value Stream Management System. This service is a comprehensive set of techniques that provides our clients with the right Lean and Six Sigma tools as well as support to eliminate waste as seen from the perspective of patients, family members, nurses, physicians, and others in the value chain - including payers. Waste is imbedded into the non-value-added tasks that a customer would not pay for and is the result of poorly performing processes.
Juran's Value Stream Management System uses proven tools and applies appropriate technology to get things done systematically and quickly. It simultaneously creates a high-performance work environment that enables our clients to achieve their business goals.
Our approach differs from most competitive offerings in that it blends the tools of two robust process improvement methodologies - Lean and Six Sigma - into a unified, cohesive process. We begin by using the statistical rigor of Six Sigma at the front end of the transformation process (the Define, Measure, and Analyze phases) to use data to fully understand demand and flow. We believe that analyzing demand and flow is especially important for health care projects such as laboratory turnaround time, E.D. throughput, patient flow, and more. The Improve phase may resemble a pure Lean implementation, a traditional Six Sigma project, or - more likely - a blended approach. We then incorporate the proven methodology of Six Sigma at the back end to establish a control plan that will enable the organization to achieve lasting improvements over time.
What gives our Value Stream Management System such power are our consultants, who bring with them extensive health care clinical and operational experience. Our health care team provides the level of expertise required to run successful transformation projects, as our staff has worked within health care organizations, not just with them.
